We created an early warning system with Micro:bit technological support and it has the capacity to generate alerts (green, yellow and red) in case of flooding due to natural phenomena that affect our community of Cuyamel.
When the alerts are generated, they can be distinguished by an LED lighting on the Micro:bit screen, an audible alarm and when it is received in the community's central park by the Micro:bit, a light will turn on according to the alert that is being transmitted. Our alert system will be shared with the school population and local organizations for their knowledge.
We live in the Honduran Caribbean coastal area and the community is surrounded by a mountain and a mighty river.
When a cold front, showers, cyclones, hurricanes approach, our community is affected by flooding caused by the river and it is necessary to evacuate and if this is not done, homes and belongings, pets, agricultural crops, and livestock are lost.
